NORTH OF THE SUN: For the Barnes film festival i went to the Harrodian School to watch North of The Sun, which is about two guys called Inge and Jorn who go and spend nine months on a remote arctic island. They are the directors of the film as well as being the leads. They go on their journey to surf some of the coldest and remote waves in the world! They had made a hut by hand after a few weeks to live in in Norway on the beach. I think it was an amazing film, with great shots and images of the environment that had become their home for a while. It is an inspiring and motivating movie that shows you how your passion can be done in the most extremest of weathers and conditions.
THE FOUR CONCEPTS:
MEDIA LANGUAGE: is not only written word (language devices, hyperbole, metaphor) it can also be visual signposts (camera angles, editing, transitions) These are ways of communicating meanings to the audience. MEDIA REPRESENTATIONS: How the media decides to represent their ideas, topics, events to their audience. MEDIA AUDIENCES: A target audience for any age group. MEDIA INDUSTRIES: Global industries such as google, apple and disney. THE PROCESS: First we set up all the equipment that we needed to use, such as lights, cameras, green screen and any seats we needed. Next we had each person in the class to sit down in the hot seat in front of the green screen. Different people did each thing e.g. filming, lighting or asking questions. For the lighting we used a dimmer to make the light that we used a bit lighter. After this we Downloaded our clips from a SD card and transported them on to final cut pro where we started to edit. First i put a keyed effect on top of the clip of me and then I went on to youtube to find a Dunkirk and Kylie Jenner trailer which are two thing I talked about in my interview. We downloaded these trailers to put them in the background instead of the green screen to make it seem like we were somewhere that we were not. Then I edited the trailers from youtube that I downloaded as and mp4 and that was slated under the interview of me. Then we added titles onto our films to say what was playing in the background. After everything was edited and done I went to masterfile to save my film and put it on my desktop and uploaded it on to my youtube Channel. This is the Keyer effect. THE EDITING PROCESS: We started by finding videos to replace the green screen and then we edited them to fit our clip WHAT GREEN SCREEN ALLOWED US TO DO: Green screen allowed us to change the background to anything we desired. We added background pictures and videos instead of the green screen which made it a lot more interesting. WWW: The lighting and filming was fine and the editing process was good as well as i knew what to do and I found the right footage to replace the green screen. EBI: The camera cut the top of my head off and made it harder for me to place myself in the film as i had to fill the whole screen with my face and the camera could have been a bit more in focus. Today we have used green screens to introduce ourselves and explain what interests us in media and why we have chosen media studies for GCSE.
We have used a green screen to be able to change the background picture to a different picture. The roles I was involved in was lighting (with. dimmer), filming, questioning and the interviewee. The things that went well for me were the questions I was asking and that I knew what to say when I was interviewed. It would have been even better if the camera was a tiny bit more in focus when I filmed as it seemed a bit out of focus but other than that it was all fine. |
